   Calculation of tolls

The goods tolls grant right of access to the network according to the boat's characteristics, the route and the type of goods transported.

"For public or private goods transport within the confines of the areas entrusted to VNF according to article 124 of the 1991 Finance law (no. 90-1168 of 29/12/90), the carrier pays a toll for any routes travelled on the river network. Toll rates are calculated as a function of the boat's characteristics, the route and the type of goods transported, the load, and whether the boat belongs to the inland or maritime navigation regime.

The toll is payable in addition to taxes and contributions of all kinds paid by goods carriers".

This toll consists of a right to access to the network, calculated as a function of the boat's tankage and of a sum calculated by the ton-kilometre according to the network travelled on. The various rates can be consulted below.

This toll represents a charge for services rendered, and revenues generated are used entirely for maintenance and enhancement of the network.
