“Vert le fluvial” conference 2021: focus on new carbon-free energy vectors in Europe
Carbon neutrality perspective 2050
The conference was held both remotely and in person at Musée des Confluences (Lyon) due to the health crisis.
A whole-morning debate and exchanges which was the occasion to make an assessment of the mobilization of the sector more than 2 years after the first edition « Vert le fluvial ».
It was also the opportunity for the speakers to share their positive French and European experiences on new carbon-free energy vectors (Biogas, electricity, hydrogen…).
Political figures and experts speeches have allowed to grasp the challenges and ambitions of the Green Deal for Europe and to take stock of the scheduling of a roadmap at European level for the inland waterway sector.
The professional stakeholders and infrastructure managers (for inland waterways and ports) most committed to the energy transition have shared their pilot and inspiring initiatives.

Next meetings in 2022
In order to continue the mobilization around the energetic transition of the inland Waterway Transport (IWT) sector (Vert le Fluvial), a major stake in its competitiveness, a webinar dedicated to the evaluation of the technology needs, energies and financing to ensure the free-carbon of the waterway fleet (conclusion of the study by IFP Energie Nouvelles) is planned before the summer 2022 followed by another one in September about the hydrogen.
